Milani Eyeshadow Primer and Powder Review

DSC00422

I have used the e.l.f. Cosmetics High Definition Loose Powder and their Shadow Lock Eyeshadow Primer for months now. I’ve reviewed the powder before but only mentioned the eyeshadow primer in a few posts. Both were great products that I loved, until recently. I’m not sure if e.l.f. changed the formula or what but both of these products work terribly for me now. The powder cakes up on my face and the primer has a watery consistency that does nothing for my eyeshadow. So, it was time for something new.  I decided to try Milani’s Illuminating Transparent Powder and their Eyeshadow Primer. The powder is $10.00 on the website but only around $8.00 at Wal-Mart and the eyeshadow primer is $7.00 on the website but around $6.00 at Wal-Mart. I’m not sure why there is a price difference. Anyways, I love both of these products and I’ll tell you all about them.

This powder looks absolutely stunning and flawless on the skin. Honestly, it is my favorite of every powder I’ve tried so far. I bought the type that has a slight shimmer but Milani also has one that is just clear. I didn’t notice this caking up on any dry spots and it has a very long wear time. I’ve worn this to the gym and only had slight shininess come through around my nose.

The picture on the left is with the e.l.f. High Definition  Loose Powder. The picture on the right is using the Milani Illuminating Pressed Powder. It may not be noticeable to anyone but me but I can tell the picture on the left is more cakey and dry looking than on the right.

Now for the eyeshadow primer. This stuff is just as amazing as the powder. First, you only have to use a very small amount. The picture above is the exact amount I use and it covers my entire eyelid and my brow bone. Second, it’s sticky enough to really grip onto the eyeshadow. My eyeshadow stayed vibrant for hours. My only complaint is it can be hard to blend in because it is so sticky but that’s not a major issue, especially because of how well it works.

If you are looking for an awesome cruelty free eyeshadow primer or pressed powder, I can not recommend these enough. Milani is about mid-way on the price scale for drugstore makeup. It’s not as cheap as say e.l.f. or Wet n Wild but it’s not as pricey as Physician’s Formula or Pixi. This is definitely a case of getting what you pay for, and for me these slightly pricier items are well worth it. Let me know if you’ve tried anything from Milani! Thank you for reading and have a great day!
