As part of my attempt to read books out of my usual, go-to genres I decided to read All The Missing Girls by Megan Miranda. It is a fiction story that I would consider to be a thriller and a mystery.
Nicolette Farrell, Nic, left her hometown of Cooley Ridge ten years ago after the disappearance of her best friend, Corrine. She has a successful career as a counselor and recently got engaged but she’s forced to return to her childhood home to help her brother care for their ailing father. Shortly after returning she runs into an ex-boyfriend, Tyler. The two still have feelings for each other because of their shared history and abrupt breakup ten years prior. However, Tyler has a new girlfriend, Annaleise. Annaleise mysteriously goes missing shortly after Nic’s arrival in town. The case is eerily similar to the disappearance of Corrine. What are the odds that two people in Nic and Tyler’s lives would just disappear?
I really enjoyed this book. It was written in a way that I haven’t seen before. The story is told in reverse once Nic arrives in Cooley Ridge. It sounds like it wouldn’t make sense but it all flows together. I enjoyed all of the characters. I felt that they were well written and relatable. I can especially relate because it takes place in a small, southern town filled with drama and I’ve lived in a similar town my whole life, haha. I really liked the ending. I felt that it summed up everything nicely and was a decently “happy” ending. It was overall just an entertaining and well written story where the “bad guy” isn’t who you would expect and the good ones aren’t really so good after all.
If you’re a fan of thrillers or mysteries this is definitely a book you need to get ahold of. Let me know what other thriller/suspense books I need to check out next! Thank you for reading and have a great day!
